Housemaid Locked In A Toilet For 20 Days

Oyinyen Chuks, 34, was on Tuesday charged at The Ikeja Chief Magistrates' Court in Lagos State for locking up her 14-year old housemaid in a can for 20 days.

Chuks, a dealer, who lives at 19, Ojo St., Shasha, a suburb of Lagos, is confronting a four-number charge verging on ambush

The prosecutor, Sgt. Raphael Donny, told the court that the offenses were conferred between May 2 and May 22 at the living arrangement of the blamed.

Donny said that the denounced charged that the housemaid stole her cash and beat her hardheartedly.

"The denounced bolted the young lady inside her can, nourished her once and didn't enable her to scrub down or put on something else for those weeks in servitude.

"It was one of the neighbors who couldn't bear the torment any longer that educated the police", he said.

The prosecutor said that taking after the report, the police went by the house and found the young lady in the condition.

"Consequently, the blamed was captured while the young lady was taken to the clinic for treatment", Donny said.

The offenses, he stated, repudiated Sections 171, 207, 245 and 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Be that as it may, Chuks argued not blameworthy to the charges favored against her.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Davies Abegunde, allowed the blamed N1million safeguard with two sureties in like total.

Abegunde requested the blamed to pay N200,000 into the Court Registrar 's account as a major aspect of the safeguard conditions.

She deferred the case until June 21 for say.
